On Saturday, 26th July 2025, joy and pride filled the air as St. Kizito’s Litein School for the Deaf celebrated its 40th Anniversary, marking four decades of unwavering commitment to empowering hearing-impaired learners through inclusive education. The event brought together a vibrant mix of alumni, students, parents, teachers, church leaders, government representatives, and friends of the school from all walks of life.
The day began on a high note with a Holy Mass at 9:00 AM, celebrated by Rt. Rev. Alfred Rotich, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kericho. His message was both spiritual and inspiring, emphasizing the importance of compassion, inclusion, and continued support for special needs education.
Guided by the theme “Breaking Barriers, Building Futures Together for Hearing Impaired Learners,” the event reflected on the school’s journey—from its humble beginnings to becoming a center of excellence for deaf education in Kenya. Guests were treated to moving performances by students, showcasing their talents in sign language songs, drama, dance, and poetry. These performances not only entertained but also highlighted the creative potential and determination of the learners.
A key highlight of the celebration was the heartfelt testimonies from alumni, who shared how the school had shaped their lives and opened doors to education, employment, and self-confidence. Their stories served as powerful reminders of the impact inclusive education has on transforming lives.
